Port Engineer Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Port Engineer to support the technical operations and maintenance of U.S. flag vessels. This is a remote position with occasional travel required for ship visits, inspections, and drydock supervision. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of commercial or government-owned vessels, experience with maintenance planning and regulatory compliance, and excellent communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of commercial or government-owned vessels, experience with maintenance planning and regulatory compliance, and excellent communication skills.
Port Engineer Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Port Engineer, Technical Superintendent, or related role
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or equivalent experience
- U.S. Coast Guard license as Chief or First Assistant Engineer (preferred but not required)
- Strong knowledge of ABS, USCG, and regulatory standards
- Excellent project management, budgeting, and documentation skills
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to federal contract requirements
- Serve as technical representative between vessel operators, contractors, and the client
- Develop and manage planned maintenance schedules, drydock periods, and repair plans
- Review, approve, and monitor shipyard work packages, repair proposals, and contractor invoices
- Coordinate with classification societies, regulatory bodies, and ship management companies
- Monitor vessel performance and ensure compliance with government standards
- Provide technical oversight during repairs, overhauls, and capital projects
- Prepare technical reports, status updates, and documentation required by management
- Support vessel readiness assessments, condition surveys, and onboard inspections as needed
- Travel to shipyards or vessel locations for inspections and project supervision as required
