Our site Superalloys of Long beach, based in California specializes in the production of high-performance vacuum refined superalloys serving the aerospace, Industrial Gas Turbine, and automotive market.

The Plant/Manufacturing Engineer is a major contributor to the success of the Manufacturing facility and is responsible for discovering opportunities to improve productivity and implement sustainable solutions. This role requires an individual with a "find it and fix it" mentality who is driven by a desire to work with cross-functional teams to solve challenging problems and implement modern solutions in a mature facility. This is a multi-faceted role that requires a dynamic engineer who can serve as Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, and Continuous Improvement Engineer.
The ideal candidate will have experience utilizing CAD for facility layouts, modeling existing systems with expected improvements, and working with vendors/EPCs to integrate products/solutions. In addition, the ideal candidate has demonstrated experience managing projects that deliver promised results on time and on budget. In this role you will work with a ~$3M CapEx budget and $1M turn-around budget to support improvements across the facility. The Plant / Manufacturing Engineer will view the Operations team as their customer to support production needs with a mindset of making overall operations a little better every day!
  • Safety: Will ensure safety is the primary consideration when prioritizing projects and implementing solutions
  • Quality: All solutions must improve or sustain existing product quality and delivery timeliness
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements across the facility that deliver productivity, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce costs
  • Leadership: Work closely with Operations peers, viewing them as customers, to solve challenging problems. Utilize strong listening, influencing, and analytical skills to drive your success. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams through indirect leadership
  • Vendor Management: Discover novel product / service solutions and work with vendors to package for implementation and installation within the facility
  • Flexibility for irregular hours depending on project needs and willing to travel up to 10% based on business needs
  • Execution: Participate in turn-around planning and execution for all major assets annually. Develop and maintain prioritized CapEx and improvement project pipelines
Interested? If you have any of the following we would love to hear from you:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, manufacturing or process background experience preferred
  • Proven experience implementing solutions for a production facility (>5 years preferred)
  • Preferred experience with vacuum induction furnaces in the manufacturing of superalloys
  • Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems
  • Proficiency in CAD software for facility layouts and tools for modeling process systems
  • Proficient in capital project management and budgeting processes
  • Experience with automation and modern PLC control systems

Salary range based on experience: $110k - $130k

Degree in relevant engineering and experience working within a metallurgy environment; ideally within aerospace.
We are keen to hear from individuals who have knowledge of investment casting technology, processes and manufacturing methods, based upon 5 years minimum experience in the engineering, manufacture and/or application of investment castings.
Experience with world class manufacturing process, and methods, Lean, Kaizen, 6s, TMP (talent management program), and other advance manufacturing methodologies, tools and concepts would be a plus.
