About the Role We’re seeking a Senior .NET Developer with prior experience supporting the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), ideally in the LoneSTAR application. You’ll lead technical initiatives in a high-visibility mainframe modernization project—applying your deep expertise in .NET Core, C#, MS-SQL, JSON, and Azure technologies to build robust integrations and scalable APIs.
This position is ideal for developers with proven state agency experience who can independently navigate complex projects, collaborate across departments, and lead junior developers in delivering secure, high-quality software.
Key Responsibilities
Lead full SDLC efforts including architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and production support
Build modern APIs and microservices using .NET Core, C#, and Azure stack (App Services, Functions, Logic Apps)
Enhance and support the LoneSTAR application and associated RBDMS platforms
Develop secure, scalable, and testable code using CI/CD practices in Azure DevOps
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including PMs, BAs, architects, and DevOps
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and support after-hours deployments
Guide and mentor junior developers, conduct code reviews, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field
8+ years of .NET development experience with C#
8+ years in .NET Core and team-based environments
2+ years of hands-on experience with the RRC LoneSTAR application
Strong SQL Server experience, JSON, Swagger, and production support skills
Available for occasional night/weekend deployment support
Detail-oriented, self-driven, and comfortable leading initiatives
Preferred Skills
Experience with GoAnywhere secure file transfer
Azure DevOps, Visual Studio IDE, Telerik/Kendo UI
Familiarity with microservices, SOA, REST APIs
Unit test development and regression analysis
PDF generation (e.g., iText), multi-environment Azure deployment
