Job Overview
In partnership with the Senior Director of Communications & Audience Strategy, the Director will design and build a cohesive customer-based audience strategy, workflow, and activation plan across upper, mid, and lower funnel media channels, with a particular emphasis on addressable channels. They will lead audience creation and activation efforts, oversee processes and technology usage, and build a strong partnership with the Customer Driven Insights & Activation team to understand the customer and business strategy and translate them into actionable paid media tactics with measurable outcomes. The Director will work closely with customer strategy, measurement, and analytics teams to uncover performance trends and audience insights, identifying opportunities for improvement through recommended enhancements and plans. Additionally, they will lead and identify new processes and innovative program opportunities that align with the Macy’s brand while driving retail innovation. Collaboration with agencies, internal and external analytics partners, and the MarTech stack will be essential to understanding media-attributed customer quality, acquisition, and retention.
What You Will Do
Audience Strategy, Development & Builds
Help internal teams think holistically for how available data and technology can best support insight, targeting, media and campaign goals. Assess available 1P data in Media and MarTech platforms to provide strategic audience recommendations, define and build addressable audiences Map existing and design new communication strategies based on insights and marketing technology capabilities.
Media Strategy & Investment Planning
Link business strategy to communications strategy and optimal media investment recommendations. Consult on multi-touch attribution and marketing mix models to optimize channel mix, spend, flighting and return on ad spend. Work with measurement and analytics to set learning agenda, develop tests to gather learnings with the intention to measure effectiveness, discover opportunities, find efficiencies, and reduce overlap.
Drive Innovation & Newness
Working closely with Brand, Merchant & Corporate Strategy teams, design and ignite new programs, ideas, ways of working within the Macy’s ecosystem. Develop a strategic roadmap for innovation investments and explorations. Advise on best opportunities to create or participate in any Metaverse and Web3 projects.

Skilled in synthesizing large and disparate data sets into strategic narratives that support brand objectives and business impact.
CDPs & Audience Technology:
Hands-on experience with Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), people-based audience platforms, and familiarity with media attribution and media mix modeling.
Ecommerce & Digital Ecosystem Knowledge:
Baseline understanding of ecommerce operations, including site structure, taxonomy, team workflows, digital marketplaces, and media networks.

Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel.
