The Rooms Controller plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless coordination between the Front Office, Housekeeping, and Engineering departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences. This position is responsible for managing room assignments, monitoring room status, and facilitating communication to ensure timely readiness and maintenance of guest accommodations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage daily room assignments based on guest preferences, VIP status, and operational needs.

Monitor room availability and status in the Property Management System (PMS).

Coordinate early arrivals, late checkouts, and room moves with relevant departments.

Serve as the central point of contact between Front Office, Housekeeping, and Engineering.

Communicate room readiness, maintenance issues, and special requests in real time.

Ensure accurate and timely updates of room status in the PMS.

Support Front Desk and Guest Services teams by ensuring rooms are prepared to standard before guest arrival.

Assist in resolving room-related issues promptly and professionally.

Monitor VIP and special request accommodations to ensure delivery and follow-through.

Notify Engineering of maintenance needs and follow up on completion.

Participate in daily operations meetings and shift briefings.

Maintain accurate records of room status changes, out-of-order rooms, and maintenance logs.

Generate and distribute daily reports to relevant departments.

Qualifications

Previous experience in Front Office, Housekeeping, or Rooms Control in a hotel or resort setting preferred.

Strong knowledge of hotel PMS (e.g., Opera or similar systems).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
