We are seeking Linux System Administrators to provide Information Technology support to the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, CA.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
As a
Linux Systems Administrator , you'll play a key role in maintaining and securing both physical and virtual server environments. You'll work closely with mission users and engineering teams to ensure systems are optimized, secure, and ready to support NASA's most critical operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Performing OS upgrades, patch installations, and system hardening
Managing certificates, port configurations, and security compliance
Automating tasks through scripting to improve efficiency and reliability
Troubleshooting and resolving incidents while identifying long-term solutions
Collaborating with users to provide IT support and ensure system performance
Job Specifications:
BS/MS in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
4–15 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration
Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar enterprise distributions
Familiarity with IT security best practices in Linux environments
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, etc.) is a plus
Proficiency with LDAP, Windows environments, and scripting languages
Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
Previous experience supporting NASA JPL IT systems is desired.
