The Director of Provider Compensation and Contracting serves as an administrative partner to leaders across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN), assisting in assessing physician and advanced practice practitioner compensation models and contracts for employed, independent contractor, and locum providers. The Director engages in change management with stakeholders to align goals and compensation strategies with system needs. Manage multiple high-level situations in a fast-paced environment. The Director of Provider Compensation and Contracting works to collaborate, influence, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Primary Accountabilities
Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of physician compensation programs to ensure equitable, legally compliant, and competitive pay practices, overseeing high-level project work related to physician and Advanced Practice Provider compensation. Establish and maintain relationships with executive leaders, department leaders, and physician leaders to implement and monitor efficient physician compensation practices and models, developing compensation plans for specialty groups and sub-specialists, advising on best practices. Conduct contract negotiations with existing and new providers, negotiating system rates based on agreements with agencies/third-party partners while balancing regulatory parameters. Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely provider payments and resolve payment issues. Maintain databases, dashboards, and custom reports/inquiries. Work with the finance team for financial modeling, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Serve as a liaison to leadership regarding physician compensation design, changes, and interpretations. Communicate with recruitment, operations, finance, HR, and payroll, and act as primary contact for external consultants regarding compensation surveys and FMV reviews. Leverage knowledge of professional practices and standards to develop compensation and contracting policies and processes. Communicate contract terms to finance and legal teams to ensure accuracy and compliance. Partner with other leaders on contracting or compensation issues, aligning with system goals and organizational strategy. Participate in professional networks, serving as a subject matter expert on market trends, and consult with regional and national practices on compensation strategies. Oversee security standards within scope of responsibility, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. Leadership Accountabilities
Define and communicate a clear vision for the team aligned with Health First’s mission and inspire achievement. Provide leadership, motivation, coaching, and support for team growth and performance. Lead change through effective communication, explaining value and creating buy-in. Encourage diverse ideas, inclusivity, and collaboration across teams. Recruit, select, develop, and retain a diverse, high-performing team. Demonstrate strategic and financial acumen aligned with organizational goals. Work Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business Administration, or relevant field. Ten (10) years of related experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience in healthcare employment contracting preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and assess complex income scenarios. Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills; negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Physical Requirements
Sitting, standing, walking, bending, and occasional lifting up to 20 pounds. Long periods at a workstation, possible travel within and outside the county. Benefits and About Health First
