Senior Software Engineer (Python or Java Backend) Location:
Hybrid - New York City (2-3 days onsite per week) MUST BE LOCAL TO NYC About the Role: We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Python or Java Backend) to join a dynamic & robust team that is changing the legal industry and delivering the most sophisticated research platform on the market. This is a hybrid role, requiring up to 3 days onsite per week in our Manhattan location. You'll be playing a pivotal role in optimizing, scaling and developing one of the top research platforms. Responsibilities Migration of platform to modern infrastructure Drive innovation in keyword and semantic search by expanding core capabilities. Embrace and implement best practices for operating large-scale, distributed systems. Take full ownership of technical solutions—from design and development to deployment and production support. Bring a deep passion for search technologies, distributed systems, and metrics-driven engineering. Thrive in a fast-paced environment where you're encouraged to take bold risks, meet challenges head-on, and consistently exceed expectations. Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience with Java, Python, C++, or other object-oriented programming languages Proven track record in architecting scalable, distributed systems using industry best practices Experience mentoring junior engineers, with a focus on design principles and clean, maintainable code Strong team player with excellent collaboration skills and a proactive approach to knowledge sharing and support Seniority level
