The Verizon CyberSecurity (VCS) team is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director to join the Governance, Risk and Compliance team. This role reports directly to the Associate Vice President of GRC and leads the organization’s cyber audit and assurance activities. Responsibilities include planning, developing, and executing audit programs to assess and improve cybersecurity controls, developing technical solutions, and governing enterprise products to ensure proper oversight. The Director collaborates with various teams to ensure security requirements and industry best practices are met.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement cyber audit & assurance strategies and plans.
Manage audit schedules and management action plans as the liaison between Internal Audit and VCS teams.
Assess cybersecurity infrastructure, identify gaps, and perform independent audits.
Evaluate security measures, recommend improvements, and report to senior management.
Ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, GDPR).
Build strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to remediate findings and improve security posture.
Stay current with cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
People Management
Lead, develop, and manage team members, including recruiting, training, and performance management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
10+ years of relevant experience, including work, military, or specialized training.
Expertise in GRC frameworks, risk management, and compliance requirements like SOX.
Certifications such as CISSP are a plus.
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to build and mentor high-performing teams and navigate complex regulatory environments.

Work Location & Compensation This hybrid role involves work from home and at least 8 office days per month in designated locations. The annual salary range is $143,500 - $275,000, depending on location and experience.
