Research Consultant - Investment Banking | Private Equity
Blacklock are partnered with a leading bulge bracket investment bank seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Analyst to join its high-performing TMT (Technology, Media & Telecommunications) M&A team, based in either San Francisco.
This is a rare opportunity to work alongside top-tier dealmakers and gain hands-on experience advising on complex M&A and strategic transactions across a dynamic range of sectors including enterprise software, internet & digital media, communications infrastructure, fintech, and emerging technologies. Key Responsibilities: Support the execution of M&A and strategic advisory transactions across the TMT landscape Build and maintain sophisticated financial models (DCF, LBO, precedent transactions, trading comparables) tailored to tech-driven business models Prepare high-impact client deliverables including pitch books, management presentations, industry primers, and marketing materials Conduct in-depth industry and company research with a focus on fast-evolving TMT verticals Assist in due diligence processes, data room management, and communication across internal teams and external stakeholders Collaborate closely with Associates, VPs, and MDs on live transactions and new business pitches Qualifications: 1–2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate finance, or financial services (internships may be considered for top candidates) Demonstrated interest in TMT sectors with understanding of industry trends, valuation dynamics, and business models in technology and media Exceptional financial modeling and analytical skills with strong attention to detail Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with tools such as Capital IQ, PitchBook, and Bloomberg is beneficial Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with a team-first, proactive mindset Ability to manage multiple live and pipeline projects in a fast-paced environment Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field from a top-tier institution Seniority level
