The Compliance Functions Control Officer plays a crucial role in strengthening the compliance risk and control environment by providing expert guidance on processes and controls, assessing risks, and facilitating interactions between Compliance, 1LoD, and 2LoD functions. The role supports initiatives to improve risk management and control processes across the organization. Scope
The role reports to the Functions Control Officer Lead for Compliance and supports activities related to Risk and Control Self-Assessment, Incident Management, and reporting. Role Objectives
Assist in executing the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process. Identify, assess, and document risks and controls, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Support the periodic Controls Attestation process and manage related technology platforms. Provide guidance on process, risk, and control assessments, including threat and vulnerability analysis. Support thematic reviews and process improvements for control efficiency. Coordinate with Operational Risk, Enterprise Risk, and Internal Audit. Assist in developing policies and procedures to enhance controls. Assess key metrics for operational effectiveness and support incident management, root cause analysis, and remediation. Prepare risk and control reports, dashboards, and summaries for governance. Participate in training programs to promote a strong control culture. Qualifications and Skills
Expertise in process and control design, including process mapping and reengineering. Strong knowledge of risk assessment, issue, and incident management. Deep understanding of financial industry regulations, including federal and state banking laws (e.g., Federal Reserve, NYDFS, FDIC, OCC). Experience in change management and process improvement. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills. Strong analytical, conflict resolution, and project management abilities. Data analytics and visualization skills are a plus. Work Experience
Minimum 7 years in Banking or Financial Services. Minimum 7 years in Operational Risk or Compliance Risk roles. Education
