Responsibilities: Partner with Engineering, Business and Technical Product to make and meet project commitments in an agile framework; rapidly delivering value to our customers via technology solutions Mentor junior data scientists to successfully deliver software and business value Continuous improvement for alerts, monitors and telemetry Communicate with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and colleagues to identify new means of approaching problems in the medical coding field Design novel methods in machine learning and launch them to production with the help of data engineers and deployment software engineers Perform independent analysis of trends in medical coding and production performance of statistical models Demonstrate leadership in machine learning engineering and direct the research of a multidisciplinary team focused on deep learning and LLM approaches Stay updated on leading-edge technologies in machine learning and deep learning, participate and lead research talks and white paper reviews Participate in research to ensure models align with ethical standards and perform without harm to users Qualifications: Required: 5+ years of experience in machine learning or data science, including data analysis, algorithm design, model architecture, and implementation 4+ years working with teams utilizing CI/CD tools, REST APIs, serverless architecture, containerization, cloud services, web applications, or messaging/streaming architectures 4+ years coding experience with Python or R, emphasizing libraries like Pytorch, HuggingFace, and pandas 1+ years experience with machine learning models, transformer architectures, and data trend analysis Preferred: Experience with SQL databases and querying Experience with AzureML, AWS, or cluster computing Experience with Hybrid NLP solutions combining symbolic and machine learning approaches All remote employees must adhere to UnitedHealth Groups Telecommuter Policy.
