Hey! We’re Skender, nice to meet you.

At our core, we are builders — of communities, relationships, dreams, and careers. If you asked us to describe Skender, we’d say we’re ambitious, humble, and compassionate. We’re focused on building lasting partnerships with the right people. Our success starts and ends with our people. That’s why we seek out dynamic, high-energy teammates who are eager to learn, ready to take ownership of their careers, and excited to have fun along the way.

Who is Skender?

About 70 years ago, Skender got its start in the basement of our founder’s family home. Now, Skender has two locations, our Chicago headquarters and our Indianapolis office, with nearly 400 employees helping us raise the bar year after year.

From humble beginnings to now, Skender has become one of the nation’s top 100 construction firms building dream spaces for many of the world’s leading brands. In more recent history, we’ve won 30 best-place-to-work awards from three different organizations, each based on comprehensive workplace evaluations and employee input.

Our team is driven by three core values:

Proactive: You take initiative, stay curious, and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to get the job done. Refreshing: You celebrate team wins, show appreciation freely, and always give credit where it's earned. True Partner: You thrive on collaboration, ask thoughtful questions, and are fully present and engaged with your team.

If our values align with yours, this could be a great match. We love meeting new people, so we can’t wait to hear about you!

Who are you?

We are looking for a Site Safety Manager who is ready to take their career to the next level. Do you know about safety standards, enforcing regulatory compliance, and proactively identifying and mitigating safety risks? Great. Are you someone with a go-getter attitude who can assume responsibility and communicate effectively with your team, partners, and clients? Even better.

What will you do as a Site Safety Manager?

The Site Safety Manager will provide essential support to the Safety Department. Acting as a partner to Skender’s project team and trade partnerships, the Site Safety Manager leads site-specific training, conducts inspections, and addresses safety concerns to promote a safe and productive work environment.

Serving as the main point of contact for all on-site environmental, health, and safety matters. Conducting daily site safety inspections and walk-throughs to identify potential hazards and verify compliance with safety requirements. Enforcing site-specific safety protocols and always ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Promptly addressing unsafe behaviors or violations by proactively engaging with trade partners and field crews to ensure corrective actions are taken. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with clients, architects, and other project stakeholders to enhance the potential for repeat negotiated work. Conduct safety orientations for all employees and trade partners before they begin work on-site. Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and provide ongoing safety training and resources to promote continuous learning. Deliver real-time coaching in the field to reinforce hazard recognition, safe work practices, and a proactive safety mindset. Lead initial response efforts for any on-site incidents or near-misses, ensuring appropriate care and communication. Conduct thorough investigations and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions. Coordinate emergency drills and ensure all emergency response plans are current, communicated, and effectively practiced. Collaborate closely with the project team and trade partners to develop, review, and continuously improve job hazard analyses (JHAs) and site-specific safety plans. Provide consistent on-site leadership and guidance related to safety protocols and best practices. Champion a safety-first culture by modeling safe behavior, recognizing positive safety practices, and holding all team members accountable for maintaining a safe work environment.

What education and experience are required?
