Reports to: Principal Electrical Engineer
Business Unit: Measurement
Role Summary/Purpose The Electrical Engineer is viewed as the subject matter expert for electrical circuitry products in our New Product Development Engineering group. Demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives, supporting the measurement of natural gas. Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment, capable of integrating requirements from various stakeholders, and balancing cost, quality, and time-to-market while maintaining engineering rigor and processes. Contributions are expected at both individual and team levels. The candidate must be a self-starter, capable of producing simulations and designs with minimal guidance.
Identify, design, evaluate, and introduce engineering solutions to meet business and engineering needs.
Provide technical consultation on product problems, including supplier and field support.
Lead and direct large projects with significant business impact.
Develop and define technical specialties, such as battery-driven low power circuitry, to innovate and improve products.
Support other Dresser businesses, customers, and suppliers as needed.
Consult with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing, product, and field issues.
Communicate technical data and recommendations effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Market proposals based on technical expertise to meet business needs.
Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology and intellectual property.
Provide technical guidance and training to engineers, technicians, and co-ops.
Technical Requirements
Understanding of electronic components; ability to design analog and digital circuits.
Experience with low power microcontrollers (e.g., TI-MSP430, Nordic NRF53, ARM Cortex-M series).
Proficiency in printed circuit design tools (Altium, Cadence, ORCAD).
Experience in drafting specifications and documenting designs.
Familiarity with embedded software/firmware development.
Required Qualifications
BA/BS in Electrical Engineering or related field, with 8+ years of electronics development experience.
Desired Characteristics
Strong multidisciplinary engineering fundamentals.
Hands-on experience with analog/digital design, PCB layout, and testing.
Electrical troubleshooting and circuit analysis skills.
Experience with hardware testing tools and software collaboration.
Ability to work independently and in teams.
ADA Requirements
Ability to handle test equipment and communicate verbally.
Moderate lifting (1-30 pounds) and walking as needed.
