Job Description
This leader is responsible for providing and maintaining organized and effective facilities engineering site management while supporting the goals, mission, vision and values of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
The Director will be responsible for the environment of care, ensuring that all facilities’ engineering operations at Arthur M. Blank Hospital are effective, efficient, and in compliance with all regulatory agencies. This leader will proactively support the efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and to promote a safe environment at Children's; and maintain all building systems and equipment to the highest standards, promoting reliability and longevity of all systems. The leader will be charged with promoting efficiency and stewardship of operating budgets, capital expenditures, and future contracted services.
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in healthcare, engineering and design industry 7 years of experience in a facility management or supervisory capacity 5 years of experience in service-related areas focusing on quality improvement and customer service excellence
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer license Design and/or consulting engineer experience Experience in a hospital or health care facility
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering

Job Responsibilities
Establish, coordinate, and maintain operational structures within the hospital campus, which promote multi-disciplinary collaborative process, participative involvement, and adequate resource allocation in maintaining excellence throughout the areas of Facilities Engineering. Oversee the day-to-day operations of Arthur M. Blank Hospital facility engineering. Ensure compliance with all OSHA and Joint Commission requirements. Responsible for the oversight, maintenance, and management of respective Joint Commission chapters EOC (environment of care) and LS (life safety) maintaining all documentation of testing, inspections, and exercising of systems according to standards. Review and assist in the campus facility strategies and construction plans as they are designed, coordinated, and implemented to ensure no operational impact to the campus including accessibility of services, delivery of supplies and equipment and removal of waste. Participate in project design and implementation meetings to ensure system needs and system standards are included and maintained. Review project designs and construction to ensure quality and system maintainability and access. Coordinate any potential equipment needing tie-in to existing systems to ensure care of patients are not affected. Manage engineering staff hiring, performance reviews and training. Develop and manage operations budget, capital projects budgets, and long-range planning and forecasting of the Arthur M. Blank Hospital campus. Manage engineering staff reviews and coordination of capital project design, phasing, system tie-in, standards, and accessibility. Develop and manage budgets for Facilities Engineering for all the campuses. Comply with all budgetary and fiscal goals in all departments under Facilities Management on the assigned site or campus. Provide System wide functional oversight for the area of expertise, including, but not limited to policy and procedure development, assisting with staff development, tracking, and trending of events, and support of other campus directors. Develop, cultivate, and maintain a dynamic customer service philosophy, incorporating the mission, vision, and values of Children’s family-centered care with the Facilities Management division on the assigned site or campus. Develop, implement, and follow through with short- and long-range goals for the assigned site or campus that are consistent with Children’s mission, vision, and values. Provide expertise to the Campus and System Environment of Care Strategy to include membership on the Environment Safety Management Committee, System Performance Council and Environment of Care Captains Task Force. Responsible for ensuring a strong continual readiness posture to meet all environmental regulatory requirements. Create maintain and update departmental safety program. Lead departmental Safety Council. Maintain and update policies and standards required by environment of care and system requirements.
