Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025.

Job Description

MSNBC Digital is seeking an experienced photo editor to join our art and photo department. The photo editor will work closely with editors, reporters, and our art director to visualize our stories and brand on msnbc.com.

This position is based in NY or D.C.

Key Responsibilities

Research, select and edit images for inclusion in stories published on msnbc.com and our digital platforms Monitor news agency feeds to identify strong images for breaking and developing news stories and our live blogs Edit and compose captions and headlines for photos and galleries on our digital platforms Create photo essays and photo galleries for msnbc.com Work with multiple stakeholders and execute assignments from editors on a wide range of topics Pitch and produce photo and art-driven stories for our websites and digital platforms

Qualifications

At least 3 years as a photo editor at a news organization, or a comparable body of freelance work Bachelor's degree or equivalent years or relevant work experience Portfolio that demonstrates an eye for storytelling, concept and composition Strong knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite Experience working in a CMS Strong written communication skills Ability to work on quick deadlines in a fast-paced environment Must have a broad knowledge and curiosity about news, and a keen eye for spotting interesting and newsworthy visual content Understanding of journalism ethics, image copyright and digital licensing Understanding and appreciation of the MSNBC brand and mission Experience working with political news preferred

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary Range: $70,000 - $95,000
