Description The hours are 8a-5:30p

The Simulation Radiation Therapist Operates:

Under the supervision of the Chief Proton Radiation Therapist, the Simulation Proton Radiation Therapist Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for simulation procedures.

The simulation therapist requires a high level of clinical and technical planning abilities.

Staff in this role will work closely with the physician, physics and dosimetry teams to ensure patients are positioned to generate the optimal treatment plan, and to reduce variation in the daily set-up for the radiation treatment delivery.

Conduct simulation procedures as directed by the radiation oncologist. Operate CT simulation unit, and supporting equipment; Power injector, gating, model construction equipment.

Create scanning protocols to optimize imaging quality. Ensures documentation (sim order/patient consent) is compliant with regulatory and department guidelines. Performs patient positioning and immobilization device construction to promote set-up consistency for daily treatments.

Ensure sterile procedures are followed for procedures requiring use of sterile equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 3 years as a staff radiation therapist, 2 years working in the Emory Healthcare system; CT simulation experience CT certification preferred.

Certificate or degree from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
