Summary The Vice President will serve as the visionary and operational leader who will be responsible for launching and sustaining a pediatric hospital that sets the national standard in rehabilitation care. The Vice President will oversee all facets of operations, collaborate with clinical and administrative teams, engage community stakeholders, and ensure exceptional patient and family experiences. This leader will report to the Mary Free Bed Chief Operating Officer, with additional reporting to the Joint Operating Agreement Advisory Board comprised of leaders from Mary Free Bed and Corewell Health. Essential Job Responsibilities Champion the vision and mission of Mary Free Bed Kids Programs and Hospital. Guide the successful launch, opening, and growth of the new hospital, including activation planning and ongoing development. Own and drive the hospital’s referral strategy, collaborating with the access team. Cultivate and maintain relationships with regional and national providers, health systems, pediatricians, and specialists to build referral pipelines. Partner with business development and clinical outreach teams to increase awareness, grow patient volumes, and ensure seamless referral experiences. Monitor and analyze referral trends, access metrics, and opportunities to expand reach and impact. Ensure excellence in pediatric rehabilitation delivery, patient outcomes, safety, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with clinical leadership to support innovative, evidence-based care that is developmentally appropriate, and family centered. Partner with clinical leadership who will provide day-to-day administrative functions including staffing, budgeting, facilities, and operational workflows. Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic priorities, partnerships, and long-term planning. Build and mentor a high-performing, mission-driven team dedicated to pediatric excellence. Foster a culture that promotes interdisciplinary collaboration. Serve as
the most passionate
ambassador for the hospital—engaging families, donors, community partners, and referring providers. Partner with the Mary Free Bed Foundation and community leadership to drive philanthropic support and awareness. Ensure the voice of families and children is heard in shaping policies, programs, and services. Oversee budgeting, financial performance, and resource stewardship for the hospital. Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards for pediatric hospitals. Serve as spokesperson for the organization and promote its mission, programs, and values. Establish and build strong collaborative relationships with community groups, donors, volunteers, clients, and the press. Lead staff to accomplish the goals of the organization and understand and fully embrace the mission and values.
