Chinese Hospital About This Role Department Laboratory Reports to Director of Lab Services Type Per Diem Requisition # 12652 Position Summary The Clinical Laboratory Technician (Non-Testing Personnel) is an essential healthcare worker, under the direction of CUA Lab leadership as described in California Business and Professions Code BPC 1269, responsible for: Biological specimen collection, including patient preparation, labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing or preparation, and transportation and storage of specimens. Assisting a licensed physician and/or scientist in a licensed clinical laboratory. Assisting in clinical laboratory equipment preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. Preparation, maintenance, and storage of reagents such as culture media and other reagent kits. Assisting in the performance of quality control procedures.

CLT Personnel Shall Not Do Any Of The Following Record test results, but may transcribe results previously recorded by licensed personnel or automatically by testing instruments. Perform tests involving quantitative measurement or mathematical calculations related to test results. Perform any phase of clinical laboratory tests in immunohematology beyond initial collection and centrifugation.

CLT Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Providing courteous, professional patient care while ensuring safety and reducing errors. Adhering to quality, safety, and infection control standards, following Universal Precautions. Maintaining and decontaminating workstations. Performing routine stains on specimens and maintaining inventory. Managing supplies and specimen handling. Interacting professionally with staff and suggesting process improvements. Training new staff on phlebotomy and specimen processing. Participating in performance improvement projects and maintaining training documentation. Processing lab send outs and coordinating reports.

Phlebotomist Duties Performing venipuncture, accessioning specimens, labeling, and transporting samples. Following safety protocols for sharps disposal and re-sheathing needles. Reordering supplies and prioritizing duties efficiently.

Qualifications Required: Certification as Phlebotomy Technician (CPT 1 or CPT 2). Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred: Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin). One year of phlebotomy experience. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds, stand, walk, and perform duties requiring good vision and emotional stability. Compliance Must comply with hospital policies and federal and state regulations. Pay Scale Starting at $25.26 $37.11 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
