Classification : Exempt Reports to : Infrastructure Network Manager Job Overview The Lead Network Engineer is an essential IT professional tasked with the design, implementation, and optimization of Cellular Sales' network infrastructure across various platforms, including retail locations and corporate networks. Serving as the primary technical expert, this role focuses on delivering scalable, secure, and efficient network solutions, including LAN, WAN, WiFi, VoIP, and SAN technologies. In collaboration with cross-functional teams, this position aligns network architecture with business objectives and supports the development of junior engineers while driving continuous improvement in network operations. Key Responsibilities Network Design : Spearhead the development of robust and secure network solutions, collaborating with architectural teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Implementation and Optimization : Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Ansible and Terraform, to deploy and enhance network systems, including routers, switches, and firewalls. Documentation : Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and procedures while providing regular project updates to stakeholders. Troubleshooting : Act as the senior technical authority for resolving complex network issues and minimizing downtime through advanced troubleshooting techniques. Security Compliance : Work with the security team to design and enforce strict network security protocols, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations like PCI. Performance Monitoring : Employ performance monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, SolarWinds) to gauge network performance and prepare for future scalability, including cloud integration. Mentoring and Training : Provide mentorship to junior staff, train operations support, and promote knowledge sharing across teams. Vendor Collaboration : Strategically partner with vendors to assess new solutions and explore innovative technologies for network advancement. Strategic Planning : Contribute to the organization's long-term networking strategies, driving process improvements for better efficiency and security. Work Environment This position is based in a professional office setting or can be performed in a hybrid remote/office environment. The role involves standard office equipment usage and may require occasional onsite visits for hardware maintenance in data centers or retail locations. Physical Requirements Ability to perform repetitive hand/eye movement, sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 lbs, and possess reliable transportation. Position Type : Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel Requirements : 10-20% travel may be necessary for deployments, vendor meetings, and site evaluations. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. High School Diploma. 8-10 years of experience in enterprise network engineering or administration. Solid expertise in switching/routing, gateway applications, and related protocols. Design-level experience with LAN, WAN, WiFi, and SAN technologies. Preferred Qualifications Advanced certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP, CompTIA Network+). Experience with scripting and Infrastructure as Code tools. Familiarity with cloud platforms and monitoring tools. Proficiency in network documentation and analysis tools. Skills and Abilities Passion for network engineering and cloud technologies.
