WORK SCHEDULE 100% FTE – 40 hours per week

Day Shift – UW MEDICINE ITS SERVICES CORE HOURS ARE 08:00 – 17:00 (PST), Monday-Friday

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine IT Services (ITS)

is a shared services organization that supports all of UW Medicine. UW Medicine is comprised of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), UW Medical Center-Montlake Campus (UWMC-Montlake), UW Medical Center-Northwest Campus (UWMC-NW), Valley Medical Center (VMC), UW Medicine Primary Care (UWMPC), UW Physicians (UWP), UW School of Medicine (SOM), and Airlift Northwest (ALNW). ITS is responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of the infrastructure and applications which support all these institutions, along with the implementation of new services and applications that are used to support and further the UW Medicine mission.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee digital innovation initiatives, including artificial intelligence, automation, and emerging technologies, ensuring alignment with UW Medicine’s mission, regulatory requirements, and enterprise-wide strategies.

Champion the adoption and integration of transformative technologies to drive clinical, operational, and research excellence across the organization, while fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration and maintaining rigorous compliance and governance standards.

Provide leadership and vision for the Data Integration Services, Software Solutions, and Automation Solutions teams, setting direction and performance standards to deliver innovative, secure, and scalable technology solutions that advance organizational goals.

Implement and sustain innovative technologies that enable secure, efficient data sharing and digital transformation across UW Medicine entities.

Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise integration platforms, APIs, FHIR-based services and other interoperability solutions that improve care coordination, patient engagement, operational efficiency, and research capabilities.

Oversee personnel management, resource allocation, and cross-functional collaboration to drive operational excellence, foster professional growth, and ensure consistently successful delivery of high-impact technology services.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY Strategic Leadership & Vision Develop and implement a forward-looking strategy for interoperability and innovation solutions in alignment with organizational objectives.

Serve as a thought leader on emerging technologies and industry best practices related to data exchange, integration, and digital transformation.

Oversight of Technology Teams Direct and manage the Data Integration Services, Software Solutions, and Automation Solutions teams.

Foster inclusive, high-performing teams through mentorship, professional development, and performance management.

Interoperability Initiatives

Lead the design, development, and implementation of standards-based interoperability solutions to facilitate seamless data sharing across internal and external stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with industry regulations, policies, and security standards.

Innovation and Solution Design Drive the identification, evaluation, and adoption of emerging technologies and innovative approaches to solve complex business challenges.

Promote a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation to enhance organizational agility and service delivery.

Project and Program Management Collaborating on project needs and aligning with processes of Project Management Office (PMO) and the Change Management and Release teams.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Act as a primary liaison with leadership, business units, vendors, and external partners to promote collaboration and secure support for interoperability and innovation projects.

Governance & Compliance Lead and support technology governance groups and processes.

Ensure data privacy, security, and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Resource & Financial Management Develop and manage team budgets, resource plans, and vendor contracts to optimize the use of organizational assets and investments.

Partner with technical operations teams and vendors to identify service improvements and opportunities for cost reduction.

Quality Assurance & Performance Measurement Implement continuous quality improvement processes and measurable outcomes to assess the impact and value of solutions delivered.

Utilize analytics and performance data to drive decision-making and report on key performance indicators.

Define internal operational and service level agreements and improve processes to meet these agreements in support of ITS’ move towards more ITIL based operational processes.

REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience

8+ years of overall experience to include the below:

5+ years’ experience leading and managing technology and/or business professionals

Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities with proven ability to influence in matrix environment

Proven ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and provide guidance and leadership to professional personnel

4+ years’ experience leading process and service improvements in a technical environment

4+ years’ experience leading teams in a complex technical environment, while successfully partnering with other technical groups

Advanced experience with data integration solutions

Advanced experience working through the complete systems development lifecycle

Advanced knowledge of current and future integration technologies

Proficiency with desktop computers, Microsoft Office, Visio, and Project applications

Advanced understanding database structures and database analysis in support of information intelligence

Advanced experience with project/program management, healthcare reporting, and service management

Advanced technical background in ITIL/service management

Advanced experience managing vendor relationships and identifying service improvements

Advanced management and leadership capabilities with proven ability to influence in matrix environment
