Network System Engineer

Get AI-powered advice on this job and more exclusive features. e&e is seeking a Network Systems Engineer for a hybrid contract opportunity in Washington, D.C.! We are seeking an experienced Network Systems Engineer to support the planning, design, development, testing, and maintenance of enterprise network infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, and telephony systems. This role requires a proactive professional with a strong understanding of network architecture, configuration, security, and systems management. The ideal candidate will ensure high availability, security, and performance of network services, while managing network resources and implementing best practices in infrastructure and security compliance. Responsibilities: Analyze and define requirements for network systems to support voice, data, and video transmission. Design, implement, and maintain network architecture and infrastructure. Plan and manage projects related to networking, infrastructure, security, and system interoperability. Configure and optimize network components including servers, routers, switches, and hubs. Monitor network capacity and performance, and conduct workload analysis. Diagnose and resolve complex network issues to minimize downtime. Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures for network systems. Install, test, and upgrade network operating systems and associated software. Apply and enforce information security/assurance policies and best practices. Manage telephony infrastructure including VoIP systems, analog lines, ACD, and IVR. Utilize tools such as Cisco ISE, Umbrella, FMC, Microsoft Intune, Active Directory, Kaseya, Cayosoft, and others to monitor and manage infrastructure. Ensure compliance with agency policies regarding network and infrastructure management, auditing, security, and disaster recovery. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: Minimum 4 years of experience in the development, configuration, installation, and maintenance of networked systems (LANs, WANs, telephony). At least 4 years of experience with network standards, protocols, and procedures. Strong background in network architecture, topology, and management. Proficient in routing, broadcasting, switching, and control protocols. Experience in network systems performance monitoring and configuration management. Hands-on experience with tools and appliances for network analysis, troubleshooting, and security enforcement. Highly Desired Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE CISSP MCSE, MCSA Or other related network/system administration certifications Seniority level
