Job Overview The
Master Police Officer
performs law enforcement duties on University property, including patrol, security, investigations, access control, arrests, and emergency response, as directed by supervisors and according to departmental policies. Supports the community by providing information and assistance. In the absence of a Sergeant, may serve as Watch Commander.
Work Interactions Reports directly to the Police Sergeant. Works independently with general supervision, collaborating with other officers, security personnel, and staff. Must be flexible to work extended or odd hours, including rotating shifts, to meet departmental needs.
Qualifications
High School Diploma required; college degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years security/law enforcement/military experience; community policing experience preferred.
U.S. Citizen, at least 21 years old.
Valid driver’s license with no violations in the past three years; able to pass Georgetown driver’s certification.
Pass written, report writing, drug, physical, psychological tests, and background check.
Qualified for Campus Special Police Officer’s Commission.
Current certification in Baton/OC Spray; completion of relevant training programs preferred.
Knowledge of criminal and civil law, police practices, and procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; telecommunications knowledge is a plus.
Professional demeanor, tact, patience, and excellent communication skills.
