Electrical Hardware Engineer – IVUS Company
Position Overview
NuevoSono, a T45 Labs portfolio company is seeking an Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our innovative team developing lntravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in electrical hardware design for medical devices, and will play a key role in all phases of product development, from concept through commercialization, ensuring our devices are robust, reliable, and regulatory compliant. Key Responsibilities
System Design & Development
Design, develop, and verify analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronic circuits for IVUS imaging devices.
Create and document circuit schematics, PCB layouts, and bills of materials (BOM).
Develop and execute test plans for hardware validation and verification.
Support rapid prototyping and iterative design improvements for early-stage product development.
Collaboration & Integration
Work closely with firmware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware and system functionality.
Participate in design reviews and provide technical leadership on electrical engineering matters.
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
Ensure all hardware designs comply with medical device regulatory standards (e.g., IEC-60601, FDA, CE marking).
Develop and maintain documentation in accordance with the company’s quality system and design control procedures.
Support risk management activities and ensure electrical safety and EMC compliance.
Manufacturing & Support
Support the transition of designs from prototype to manufacturing, including DFM/DFT and process optimization.
Investigate and resolve product complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
Collaborate with contract manufacturers and external design partners as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in electrical hardware development, with a focus on medical devices (IVUS or intravascular catheters ).
Strong knowledge of analog/digital circuit design, PCB layout, and electrical design verification.
Familiarity with medical device standards (IEC 60601, ISO 14971, ISO 13485) and quality systems.
Experience with EMC/EMI design principles and compliance testing.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Qualifications
Experience with IVUS, intravascular catheters, or other imaging modalities.
Prior involvement in the full product lifecycle from concept to commercial release.
Experience with wireless technologies and battery-powered medical systems.
Experience with EMC testing and electrical safety certification.
Familiarity with risk management tools (DFMEA, FMEA) and design for manufacturability (DFM).

Location & Compensation
This position is onsite in our Santa Clara, CA office.
T45 Labs is committed to fair and equitable pay practices, and compensation may include bonuses, equity, and benefits as part of the total rewards package.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $140,000 - $190,000 annually, based on San Francisco Bay Area market data. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as experience, skills, and geographic location.
