About The Role
As a Principal Solar Engineer, you will oversee, design, and support commercial and grid-supplied Solar Photovoltaic systems. This role requires technical expertise in solar PV systems, strong leadership skills, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure project success. You will manage project teams, guide engineering processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Support Design team during initial training and as needed thereafter. Oversee, design, and support commercial and grid-supplied Solar Photovoltaic systems. Lead project teams, providing direction, objectives, and support. Mentor and coach junior engineers to foster professional development. Prepare technical drawings and specifications to ensure standards and customer requirements are met. Conduct detailed site evaluations. Coordinate with structural, electrical, geotechnical, and civil engineers to meet technical and code requirements; manage PE review process. Provide technical support for proposals and customer presentations. Participate in meetings and technical presentations for clients, investors, and the PV community. Support site evaluation, interconnect agreements, and related tasks with engineering input. Work with utilities on interconnection paperwork. Review specifications for materials and equipment purchases. Identify and qualify equipment vendors. Support project management and construction teams with technical assistance. Review work of other design engineers during design phase. Develop customer deliverables such as layouts, diagrams, specifications, and renderings. Assist with RFP reviews, technical writing, and responses. Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; advanced degree preferred. Minimum 5 years' experience in solar design and project engineering. Proficient with AutoCAD and MS Office. Experience in electrical, mechanical, structural, or civil engineering design. Leadership experience, including supervision and mentorship. Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical info clearly. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and in teams.
