We are looking for a Principal Data Scientist in Power Automate. This role is for an individual who has a desire to create seamless, intuitive, delightful experiences that will be validated using a data driven approach. This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of AI technologies and to partner with multiple teams both inside Microsoft and across the industry.

This role will be expected to architect, design and implement highly scalable and reliable AI solutions, including but not limited to application of LLMs/SLM to business problems, fine-tuning models to solve the hardest problems, prompt-engineering with advance techniques for Retrieval Augmented Generation and orchestration between cutting-edge frontier models. Required Qualifications: Doctorate in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 5+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Master's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 7+ years data-science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) OR Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Economics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or related field AND 10+ years data science experience (e.g., managing structured and unstructured data, applying statistical techniques and reporting results) 2+ years of generative AI experience Other Requirements Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications Experience building scalable applications andservices,onscalable cloud platforms.with robust performance,resiliencyand security. Experience with delivering end-to-endfeatures with AIusingtechniques for data preparation and curation, for prompt engineering, for model fine-tuning, for modelevaluation, for model orchestration and forend-to-endoperational excellence. Experience working with LLMs like OpenAI's GPT Proficiencyin fine-tuning pre-trained models on domain-specific datasets Experience in working with REST APIs forRAGand interacting with LLM-based systems. Data Science IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
