Merck is seeking a talented and driven Data Analyst to join the Digital Sciences team within the Analytical Enabling Capabilities sub-department of Analytical Research & Development. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects supporting all stages of the drug development pipelineacross small molecules, peptides, biologics, and vaccines. You will collaborate closely with scientists and digital experts to design, develop, and maintain data visualization tools, dashboards, and data workflows that enhance the effectiveness of analytical R&D. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, an independent thinker, and a team player passionate about leveraging data science to make a real-world impact in pharmaceuticals.

Responsibilities Design and implement dashboards, reports, and data exports to support R&D decision-making Build and deploy applications using Python, primarily on Posit (RStudio Connect) Utilize data visualization platforms such as Shiny, Streamlit, Dash, PowerBI, Tableau, or Spotfire Collaborate cross-functionally to gather requirements and deliver solutions aligned with scientific workflows Leverage Git and GitHub for version control and project collaboration Connect to and integrate data from AWS sources (S3, Redshift, Glue, Athena) Provide innovative solutions and improvements for common scientific data visualization challenges Support the deployment and scaling of Microsoft Power Platform tools (Power BI & Power Apps) Maintain clear documentation and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences Participate in cross-site digital initiatives and engage with internal digital/data teams Education Bachelors degree in Computer Science, related field, or Chemistry with strong programming skills Experience 46 years of relevant experience in data analytics, visualization, and application development Must have experience with programming in Python, data visualization tools, and version control systems Preferred experience with tools such as Dataiku, Databricks, SQL, Neo4J, AWS Neptune, JMP, or Minitab Additional Information Hybrid role: 3 days/week onsite in Boston, MA; Rahway, NJ; or West Point, PA Duration: 1 year with the possibility of extension Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship Submit resumes indicating the preferred reporting location (MA, NJ, or PA)
