Senior Systems Engineer

Position Overview: Our client is seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused Senior Systems Engineer to lead technical engagements in a dynamic lab environment. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Active Directory, Windows Server, Linux, and networking, and will serve as the technical lead during customer-facing lab projects. This role partners closely with Project Managers to ensure successful solution delivery while supporting lab-based testing, validation, and deployment work.
Requirements

• Serve as the technical lead during customer engagements, especially in lab-based proof-of-concept or testing scenarios
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers during lab-related activities
• Collaborate with Project Managers to gather customer requirements and translate them into lab configurations or test plans
• Design, build, and troubleshoot Active Directory and Windows Server setups in isolated or hybrid lab environments
• Provide configuration and support expertise for Linux systems in the lab
• Set up and maintain networking components (VLANs, switches, firewalls, routing) within the lab to simulate customer environments
• Guide customers through demos, evaluations, and testing phases using lab resources
• Document lab designs, test results, and technical procedures
• Escalate and track technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction

Required Qualifications:

• Candidate must be a United States Citizen and present proof of Citizenship, if selected
• 5+ years of experience in a technical systems role, preferably in lab or testing environments
• Familiar with:
• Active Directory administration and design
• Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
• Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL, or CentOS preferred)
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, etc.)
• Experience in building and managing lab environments for testing, customer simulations, or validation
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-service mindset
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team
• Active Secret clearance (or an interim Secret)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Relevant certifications such as:
• Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
• RHCSA or CompTIA Linux+
• CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA
• Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V)
• Familiarity with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash)
• Experience in federal or enterprise-level IT labs is a strong plus
