This includes configuring mobile devices, desktop systems, and operating environments across iOS, Windows, and ChromeOS platforms. The position ensures that all client systems are deployed securely, function reliably, and align with both instructional and operational needs. By leveraging enterprise-grade mobile device management (MDM) platforms such as Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, and Google Admin Console, the Specialist facilitates scalable, policy-driven management of Bethel's large enterprise fleet.
In collaboration with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and support teams, the Client Systems Specialist plays a key role in maintaining compliance with security policies, delivering an excellent customer experience, and implementing software and operating system updates. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a strategic mindset to assess the impact of system changes and evolving technology standards. This position supports district initiatives through careful planning, proactive communication, and hands-on leadership in device deployment and lifecycle management.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Configure enterprise mobile device management (MDM) systems including Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, and Google Admin Console to support secure, scalable, and policy-driven management of client devices.
- Process the lifecycle of end-user computing devices, including provisioning, configuration, deployment, compliance monitoring, patch management, and retirement.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and support teams to implement and enforce device compliance policies, encryption, access control, and monitoring standards.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the district's web content filtering (WCF) systems to ensure alignment with acceptable use policies, enforce SSL decryption and filtering rules, perform traffic analysis and investigations, and maintain compliance with security and privacy requirements across all client devices.
- Apply technical expertise to support major initiatives related to client systems, such as OS and application upgrades, SCCM-to-Intune migrations, and 1:1 technology rollouts, ensuring minimal disruption and maximum user readiness.
- Develop and maintain automated deployment workflows and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python, etc) to streamline device onboarding, software installation, and user configuration.
- Provide Tier III support for escalated device, application, and configuration issues from help desk and field technicians.
- Assist with coordinating and communicating device platform updates, changes, and testing plans to technical teams and impacted departments.
- Monitor system dashboards, logs, alerts, and analytics to proactively identify and resolve issues affecting device health, performance, or compliance.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles.
- Support the development and enforcement of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, ensuring secure access, content filtering, and policy compliance for personal devices.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for mobile and desktop device management in district planning efforts related to technology infrastructure and instructional technology.
- Provide guidance and technical expertise in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new device platforms, tools, and deployment technologies.
- Train and mentor Tier I and Tier II technical staff in device configuration, management platforms, and troubleshooting protocols.
- Coordinate with vendors and external partners for device support, licensing, escalated technical issues, and device warranty or service needs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district regulations and policies related to data privacy, security, accessibility, and acceptable use.
- Participate in change management and governance processes, documenting risks, mitigation strategies, and stakeholder communication plans.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and district data by adhering to all applicable privacy laws, security protocols, and internal policies related to data access, storage, and transmission.
Education and Experience
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in Information Technology or a related field, including at least two (2) years of hands-on experience with mobile device management (MDM) platforms such as Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, or similar tools.
- Proven experience supporting and managing large-scale device deployments (10,000+ devices) across iOS, Windows, and ChromeOS environments, including application deployment, OS configuration, and software packaging in a K-12 or enterprise setting.
- Demonstrated expertise implementing and supporting Apple School Manager, JAMF Pro, Google Workspace, and/or Azure AD integrations, with strong operational knowledge of network and endpoint security policies, including encryption, certificate-based authentication, and access control.
- Experience serving as a Tier III support resource, troubleshooting complex device issues, leading or coordinating projects, documenting workflows, and effectively communicating with technical teams and stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SCCM and Windows deployment services, including Windows 10 to Windows 11 transitions, and prior experience applying testing/QA methodologies to production environments using best-practice testing workflows.
- Expertise in mobile operating systems, including iOS, iPadOS, Windows 10/11, and ChromeOS.
- In-depth knowledge of mobile device management (MDM) systems, particularly Jamf Pro, Microsoft Intune, and Chrome Admin Console.
- Strong understanding of enterprise deployment strategies, including application packaging, OS imaging, and automated provisioning workflows.
- Proficient with Apple School Manager, Apple Business Manager, Google Workspace for Education, and Azure Active Directory integration.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues across multiple device platforms.
- Thorough understanding of network security, device compliance, certificate-based authentication, and endpoint encryption practices.
- Familiarity with Zero-Touch Deployment, Automated Device Enrollment (ADE), Autopilot, and other device onboarding technologies.
- Ability to analyze and apply vendor patch notes and updates to determine impact on the production environment and initiate timely rollouts.
- Experience with Windows deployment tools and frameworks, including SCCM and Windows Autopilot, as well as transitions from SCCM to Intune.
- Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure architecture, including virtual and physical servers, storage technologies, and authentication systems.
- Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to write and maintain documentation, technical workflows, policies, and user-facing support materials.
- Project coordination and planning skills, including experience managing timelines, resources, and cross-functional collaboration.
