The Warehouse Shift Manager is an integral part of the Operations Department. This Salary Exempt role is responsible for the direct personnel management for an assigned shift.The overall objective of a shift is to meet the operational needs of the organization. These needs must be at the standards that reflect the quality image and safe practices of Adams Beverages. The Warehouse Shift Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations or Operations Manager.
Primary Objectives
Ensure all Warehouse employees adhere to company and OSHA safety requirements, policies, and procedures Ensure the facility is properly maintained as prescribed by the standards set forth by the company and suppliers Manage loading operations to reduce load errors. Ensure delivery loads are correct and that load errors are within the targets established by management. Ensure adequate staffing for receiving, loading, and order selection activities Approve personnel work schedules based on expected shipments or load requirements in order to maximize productivity Assess warehouse staff productivity and re-direct work as needed Manage product rotation to ensure proper disposition of close-to-code products Supervise daily inventory counting to ensure proper inventory counting procedures are followed according to company guidelines Ensure warehouse inventory rotation. Review inventory aging report to ensure the oldest product is used first onto delivery vehicles. Review check-in and re-inventory of re-packed product from damages daily. Ensure the repack effort is efficient and follows company standards. Ensure that all inbound loads are stored in the warehouse according to the warehouse configuration plan Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the warehouse Monitor and order all required warehouse supplies (e.g., repack materials) Fully immerse in complete utilization of WMS and Automation systems Ensure the “Check out” and “Check in” processes are operating in an efficient manner Implement standards for limiting breakage trends in warehouse employee functions Manage employee time sheets and pay reporting (including variable compensation management) Ensure that all warehouse personnel receive adequate training and are prepared to advance through the pre-determined career progression Provide new employees with orientation and training to adhere to all company policies and procedures (e.g., loading of delivery vehicles) Document, discuss, and take necessary corrective action with warehouse personnel regarding inadequate performance, terminating when necessary Foster a “Best-in-Market” warehouse team spirit Perform annual evaluations of direct reports per company policy Other directives as provided by management
The Warehouse Shift Manager reports to and must work closely with, as well as be in constant communication with all Operation Managers, Branch Manager, VPs, and ownership.
Development of the Warehouse Shift Manager Position
A Warehouse Shift Manager with proper development can expect opportunities to move into roles such as Operations Manager or Delivery Driver Supervisor. Additional opportunities may exist in the Sales Department.
Product Knowledge – understand the entire portfolio Participate in executive, management, and company staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars Safety & DOT Training All relevant safety and machinery training as necessary Special emphasis on FORKLIFT & Ergonomic training Strong knowledge of Selling Solution Technology (Encompass Mobile, Encompass WMS, etc.) Continued Employee Training programs
Warehouse Shift Manager Requirements
Minimum age of 21 years old CDL / Class A License preferred Flexibility in work schedule Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time Above average oral and written communications skills (interact well with Internal & External Customers) Average computer knowledge, skills, and experience Proficient with Encompass Operation Tasks Enthusiastic team player interested in positive company growth
Education And Experience
3-5 years of experience in warehouse management functions or coordination Completion of some college coursework is expected. An associate degree is preferred.

These conditions may vary, and the employee will receive adequate training to recognize and avoid hazards that cannot be described as expected.
