OES Equipment, part of the DPR Family of Companies, is a fast-paced supply and rental equipment company in the construction industry. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented candidate to lead our transportation department.

The

Transportation Lead

will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and reliable shipping solutions for the Family of Companies, maintaining strong relationships with brokers and carriers, and providing support and oversight to team members in achieving business and service objectives.

Duties And Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast- paced, dynamic environment. This role requires excellent follow-through, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to the following:

Shipper And Carrier Management

Identify and onboard reliable brokers to transport material or equipment. Develop and manage strong relationships with Brokers/Carriers to ensure reliable service as transportation partners.

Rate Negotiation And Quoting

Negotiate competitive transportation rates with carriers to secure cost-effective shipping solutions. Prepare accurate shipping quotes based on specific project needs.

Tracking And Managing Shipments

Monitor shipments to ensure timely deliveries and provide real-time updates to shippers. Proactively address concerns during transit to maintain service quality. Resolve any issues that arise during the transportation process.

Documentation And Compliance

Create and manage shipping documents such as bills of lading (BOL) and shipping labels. Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and standards. Maintain up-to-date orders and tracking information in Smartsheet.

Customer Support

Schedule freight as needed in accordance with customer requirements and timelines. Provide customer support to both carriers and shippers, addressing any concerns or issues, acting as liaison as needed for inquiries. Ensure timely communication to customers with delivery information. Submit insurance claims and track payment statuses as needed.

Financial

Own the P & L for the Transportation department. Accurately process invoices through Coupa. Ensure timely and accurate billing to customers. Reconcile rejected invoices in a timely manner. Contribute to revenue forecasting and business planning.

Team Leadership And Development

Manage, motivate, and develop a team of transportation professionals. Conduct performance reviews and support career development. Train and onboard new hires, providing ongoing support and mentorship.

Risk

Partner with the Risk department to execute Broker and Shipper Agreements. Identify and mitigate operational risks related to transportation activities.

Required Skills And Abilities

Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills. Excellent problem-solving and communication abilities. Proficiency in software platforms (e.g., Smartsheet, Coupa, RentalMan) preferred.

Education And Experience

Familiarity with transportation documentation and regulatory compliance. Financial acumen, particularly around forecasting and P&L responsibilities. Experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation management. Experience managing a team, including training and performance development.

Physical Requirements

Travel could be expected. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
