Principal Software Development Engineer
As a member of the Security and Identity team, you will be part of a team responsible for the platform used by OCI service teams and external customers to transfer artifacts and data from one region to another within the Cloud. It is fundamental to OCI's security posture and is a highly scalable system that works across hundreds of thousands of resources within each of the 60+ regions worldwide. As a Principal Software Development Engineer, you will work on developing new features to make deployment friction free while maintaining security and compliance. You will also provide technical leadership to junior engineers and will be a mentor to help grow engineering craft. Duties and tasks are varied and complex, requiring independent judgment and full competence in the area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower-level personnel. BS or MS degree and equivalent experience relevant to functional area. We're looking for a Principal Software Development Engineer with experience in cloud service development on a modern IaaS environment. This candidate has a natural excitement for building complex, highly distributed, and reliable cloud-native services that reimagine what is possible in a cloud environment. This candidate understands current technologies and trends in modern cloud-native service design but has a natural enthusiasm to think differently, push boundaries and take calculated risks to continuously drive value to our stakeholders. Qualifications: BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field 5+ years of experience in enterprise/large customer applications development 5+ years of experience in designing, delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems Proficient in Java, GoLang or a similar object-oriented language Working knowledge of common micro-service design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols Experience with production operations and good practices for putting quality code in production and troubleshoot issues when they arise Comfortable and proficient in communicating technical ideas verbally and in writing Experience with Agile Development (Scrum or Kanban) Ability to translate feature requirements into a development plan, and then execute on that plan Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in Java or GoLang Experience with Java micro-service and serverless frameworks Experience designing and building multi-tenant distributed systems Experience working in a DevOps environment Security knowledge with TLS, PKI and SSH Responsibilities: Build and operate modern, cloud native, fault tolerant and scalable cloud services Participate in the design and implementation of service API's Participate in the entire software lifecycle: development, testing, CI/CD and operations Work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented agile development environment Contribute to operational activities such as writing runbooks, troubleshooting, operations automation, and instrumentation for metrics and events Work with Product Management and other development teams to achieve goals Mentor junior team members Contribute to a healthy and supportive team culture Work with geographically distributed teams and contribute to the success of your team and other related teams Support both public and government (secure) environments Disclaimer: Certain US customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.
