SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform dispatching duties, schedule substitute for routes as needed, and provide clerical support duties for the Transportation Department.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assign substitute drivers and monitors for routes as necessary Maintain an accurate daily attendance roster of drivers and monitors Operate a two-way radio base station and record radio communications as required Communicate with transportation staff, dispatching to needed locations to respond to routine requests or emergency situations Maintain or assist in maintaining assigned files and records; receive and process information according to established guidelines and procedures Maintain current knowledge of routes and locations to assure timely services and accurate information Communicate with parents, supervisors, school administrators and department staff; receive requests, questions, concerns and suggestions and provide routine information and assistance or route to appropriate personnel Perform a variety of clerical support duties as assigned; compile data from clearly defined sources and prepare reports; answer telephone, route calls or messages, prepare and process requisitions; distribute mail Maintain cordial working relationships with transportation staff Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of all facets of driver and monitor duties as outlined in state and district regulations Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of Hopkins County roads and streets Maintain regular and predictable attendance Adhere to the professional code of ethics Successfully utilize technology as appropriate in job function Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Valid Kentucky driver's license and willing to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with school bus endorsement within a year. Proficient with Microsoft Office software DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy Proficient recordkeeping and organizational skills Operation of a two-way radio and standard office equipment Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
