UPMC Somerset Health Services is looking for a full-time Medical Assistant to join their team! This position supports the Somerset Family Practice Davidsville office. The Medical Assistant works Monday through Friday rating daylight hours between 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (no holidays no weekends required). Candidates with prior Medical Assistant or vitals experience are strongly encouraged to apply! Responsibilities:
Check schedules and organize patient flow.
Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms and assist as needed.
Collect patient information, take vitals, and perform screenings.
Relay instructions to patients and families.
Send and receive patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other regulations.
Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments, and maintain cleanliness.
Manage inventory of supplies and restock exam/procedure rooms.
Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs.
Assist physicians with procedures and document patient information.
Answer calls and provide pertinent information, including patient education.
Medical Assistant
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities.
To qualify for Medical Assistant, Senior candidate must also have one of the following:
Successful completion of Medical Assistant Program
Equivalent hospital program (LPN/RN/EMT)
Successful completion of certification examination (AMT, AAMA, NAHP, NCCT, or NHA)
At least 1 year of patient care experience required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
