About the Team:

The AI Hub Platform team is the team that provides the platform APIs, infrastructure and backend web server for the Microsoft 365 Copilot app

( https://m365.cloud.microsoft ). All partner teams have built their AI-enabled experiences on our platform and depend on us for their success. We own everything from the application code itself to the platform APIs to the deployment pipelines and infrastructure including the backend web server and middle-tier service that supports the application on the web, Windows, and Mac.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated

Principal Software Engineering Manager

to join our

AI Hub Platform team

. This team is responsible for providing the platform APIs and infrastructure for the Microsoft 365 Copilot app and all partner teams that build AI-enabled experiences within the application.

As a

Principal Software Engineering Manager

, you will lead a team that is creating the Copilot app being used by millions of customers.

Your team will work on web services, web application code, infrastructure, and/or platform APIs to expand AI experiences in Microsoft 365 Copilot.

You will work in a fast-paced agile environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enable the M365 Copilot app and drive innovation. If you are passionate about AI and have an experienced technical leadership background, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.

In this role, you will work closely with partner teams to build new additional capabilities for the app, web service, platform, and infrastructure. You will also work to help improve the application's performance and quality. Responsibilities

Manage and lead a team of engineers building M365 Copilot App features, services, and infrastructure.

Manage and lead the design and implementation of new product features working with architects and individual contributors on your team.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable the M365 Copilot app and drive innovation.

Work closely with partner teams to build new additional capabilities into our platform.

Design, produce and deliver software to improve reliability, scalability, performance, security, efficiency, etc.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience on user-facing products with coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript.

OR equivalent experience.

4+ years people management experience.

3+years industry experience with web development including Typescript or experience with C# and web service development.

3+years industry experience working on web applications, Progressive Web Applications (PWA), or web services.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check

: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience on user-facing products with coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, JavaScript, or Typescript.

OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience on user-facing product with coding in languages including, but not limited to C#, JavaScript, or Typescript.

OR equivalent experience.

Experience demonstrating effective cross-team communication and partnership skills.

Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional engineering teams with a high degree of autonomy, fostering accountability, initiative, and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.

Experience applying creative and analytical thinking to solve complex technical and organizational challenges, with sensitivity to team dynamics and evolving business needs.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
