The Opportunity:

We're looking for a highly skilled Sr. Backend Engineer for our API team who excels at designing, building, and stabilizing intricate backend services. You'll use your deep PHP/Laravel 10+ and AWS knowledge to develop and maintain critical APIs within an environment featuring both modern and legacy components. This role requires exceptional debugging skills, a focus on resilience, and the ability to navigate and improve complex, interconnected systems while leveraging modern tools like AI assistants.
What You'll Do: • What You'll Do: AI-Powered Development: Design, build, and test high-quality APIs (PHP/Laravel) leveraging AI tools to significantly boost productivity, ensure code quality, and accelerate problem-solving. • Architect Scalable Solutions: Create robust, secure, and maintainable backend services and RESTful APIs for our global platform. • Champion Code Quality: Write clean, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code (Unit, Integration, E2E with PHPUnit). • Cloud & DevOps Synergy: Collaborate effectively with DevOps to implement, deploy, and optimize applications on AWS, focusing on automation and stability. • Diagnose & Resolve: Expertly troubleshoot complex issues across distributed systems, identifying root causes even in challenging environments. • Optimize Performance: Continuously improve application speed, scalability, and resilience. • Full Lifecycle Contribution: Engage actively in Agile ceremonies, owning features from ideation to production support. • Collaborate & Guide: Share knowledge, mentor junior engineers, and communicate technical solutions effectively. • On-Call Responsibility: Participate in rotation for 24/7 support of critical systems.
What You Bring:

Senior Backend Expertise: 5+ years of professional experience delivering robust backend solutions. • PHP/Laravel Authority: Extensive experience with PHP and deep knowledge of Laravel (10+ essential). • AI Development Acumen: Proven experience or strong, demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) for measurable development gains. • AWS Cloud Experience: Solid experience building and operating applications within the AWS ecosystem. • Strong API & System Design: Deep understanding of RESTful APIs and experience designing scalable systems (microservices a plus). • Database Proficiency: Expertise with MS SQL Server/PostgreSQL and caching mechanisms. • Testing Rigor: Commitment to comprehensive testing practices (PHPUnit). • Modern Workflow: Fluency with Git, CI/CD, Docker. • Analytical & Resilient: Strong problem-solving skills; ability to navigate ambiguity, technical hurdles, and unstable environments effectively. • Team Player: Excellent communication and collaboration skills suited for a dynamic Agile setting.
Highly Desirable: • Experience migrating legacy PHP to Laravel. • Node.js, JavaScript, or TypeScript experience. • Queuing systems (Laravel Horizon, AWS SQS). • E-commerce platform familiarity. • OAuth/JWT implementation knowledge.
