Designing, developing, testing, and implementing secure enterprise-wide cyber systems and network solutions, this role addresses complex security challenges across the entire system lifecycle-from concept and design to operation and disposal. Responsibilities include managing firewalls, network access, encryption technologies, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and forensic analysis. The role ensures security requirements are defined and maintained through risk assessments, system hardening, incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning. It also involves integrating cybersecurity architecture into existing systems, analyzing current and future security needs, and resolving integration and testing issues. As a senior expert and individual contributor, the position may lead high-impact projects, guide strategy execution, and advise on process or policy improvements. Requires a bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide the technical leadership for the ESS Program Office in the deliveries of space and ground cryptographic units to support the Space, and Ground segments.

Lead the trade for spacecraft cryptographic unit selection. Considerate about requirements, interfaces, environments and testing.

Ensure the technical design and interfaces, development and deliveries for the space payload encryption units in terms of hardware and firmware.

Ensure the technical design and interfaces, development and deliveries for the ground encryption units in terms of hardware and firmware.

Support all encryption unit successfully complete the required test program. Develop test documentations, e.g. test plan and reports as necessary.

Ensure space cryptographic units survive space environments through qualification testing.

Provide supplementary PKMA (Protected Key Management Architecture) activities as necessary.

Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with various government customer organizations, contractors, and FFRDC teammates.

Qualifications

An active TS/SCI is required for this position.

BS with 14 years' experience in technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.

14 years' experience with Crypto/PKMA or Master's degree and 12 years' experience.

Military or DOD or IC space and ground experience required.

Space systems engineering experience desired at the unit, subsystem, or spacecraft levels.

Requirement to work on site at LAAFB 100%. Remote work unavailable.

Approximately 20% travel within Southern California and Maryland.

Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
