About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY

The Nanoscale Biophysics Laboratory at Northeastern University is looking for a full-time Lab Manager to coordinate and assist with operations. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting with grant proposal writing, managing the lab's budget allocations and progress reports, coordinating ordering supplies and capital equipment, assisting with equipment maintenance, and lab organization. In this role, it is critical that the successful candidate is an excellent communicator and has good organizational skills. The Nanoscale Biophysics Laboratory is a ~15 member group that consists of researchers at all levels (undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs). This is a full-time position and requires work on site.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinating lab ordering for the lab. This involves responding to requests by lab members to order supplies and equipment. In some cases, ordering requires approval from the lab head, so frequent communication is required. Assistance with budget operations: this requires analysis of existing grants and providing monthly (or as needed) updates on spending by the lab and allocation of spending among the various awards. Assisting with equipment maintenance includes making sure that all lab equipment is in good working order. This includes, but is not limited to, coordinating equipment repair, ensuring that standard operation protocols for equipment is up to date, and training users. Lab safety/organization includes ensuring that regular lab cleanup dates and safety protocols are enforced in order to maintain compliance with the office of safety and lab tidiness. Lab cleanups are events that should include participation of the lab members. Lab environment includes, but is not limited to, planning and executing team-building events for the Laboratory members. QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree required in Physics, Biology, Bioengineering, or Chemistry, or in a field that is relatable to the Nanoscale Biophysics Laboratory's research areas. Experience of at least 5 years in a similar laboratory manager position is strongly preferred.

Compensation Grade/Pay Type: 109S

Expected Hiring Range: $66,850.00 - $94,427.50

With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role. Salary ranges are reviewed regularly and are subject to change.
