We're working a minimum of 4 days a week onsite as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. You Will: Design and develop software in Simulink that enables surgeons and operating-room staff to control "Hugo", a Robotic Assisted Surgery System. Integrate and test new controller designs on hardware and with the rest of the robotic platform. Contribute to the continuous improvement of verification methods. Partner with the greater software organization, systems engineering, and validation groups. Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the team. Define and review software requirements and exercise latitude in determining deliverables. Conduct software and product hardware-in-loop testing and create model and prototypes. Act as an independent reviewer of Simulink models to ensure that all software meets quality standards. Prepare and participate in design reviews. Document or participate in the documentation of the software including architecture and design detail, unit testing, anomaly tracking and reports. Work from our office in Bostons Seaport District 4 days per week (Commuter assistance provided). Must Have: Bachelors Degree with 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant experience. Nice to Have: Experience developing software for commercial products, preferably in regulated industries, such as medical devices. Proficiency in developing software in a Linux environment, with a strong understanding of operating systems and compilation processes. Advanced knowledge of software development tools, including build automation (cmake preferred), code coverage, unit testing, static analysis, debugging, and source control (git preferred). Expertise in using Simulink to design and develop complex software products, with familiarity in Simulink Coder and a deep understanding of code generation. Strong understanding of best practices for developing software in Simulink, with the ability to implement and advocate for these practices across the team. Experience with real-time operating systems (QNX preferred). Solid foundation of mathematics for controlling robotic systems, including multi-body kinematics, feedback controllers, and signal processing. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail, with ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to build consensus and establish common goals. Experience with diverse, cross-functional teams; geodiversity spanning an international environment is a bonus. Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $148,000.00 - $222,000.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
