Mid-Level WordPress Developer Washington, DC (Hybrid - 1 to 2 days onsite per week) Direct Hire / Full-Time

Overview: We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Mid-Level WordPress Developer to join our growing team in Washington, DC. This hybrid position (1-2 days in office per week) offers the opportunity to work on a range of dynamic web projects in a collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is well-versed in both front-end design and back-end development, with a strong command of WordPress, PHP, and modern web technologies. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress websites using themes and plugins, including building custom themes from scratch or adapting existing ones. You'll work with ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) to configure post types, build and maintain custom plugins, and collaborate closely with designers and content teams to ensure websites are functional and visually compelling. Additional responsibilities include optimizing for performance and SEO, troubleshooting browser/device issues, managing deployments across environments, and staying up to date with WordPress trends. Strong documentation and familiarity with version control and workflow tools like Git are also key to success in this role.

Required Skills and Experience: 3+ years of professional WordPress development experience Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL Strong experience with WordPress themes, plugins, and ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) Knowledge of popular page builders (e.g., Elementor, Gutenberg) Experience with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility Understanding of web performance optimization and caching techniques Familiarity with REST APIs and integrating third-party services into WordPress Experience with Git or other version control systems Comfortable working independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple projects Nice to Have:

Experience with WooCommerce Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, or other design tools Basic understanding of SEO, Google Analytics, and tracking implementation Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) Experience working in an agency or fast-paced environment
