Nondestructive Ultrasonic Testing Technician VI
located at the
NSWC Carderock Facilities in West Bethesda, MD . Astrion has worked extensively with the team at NSWC Carderock where it has earned a reputation for on-time delivery of high-quality products tailored to the needs of its clients.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Education: High school diploma or GED
Certifications: Certified as a Level III Test Examiner for Ultrasonic Testing (UT) to perform: UT Thickness Shear Wave Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD) In accordance with NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 (Nondestructive Testing Methods)
Certified Level III in Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) under ASNT Note:
Personnel with ASNT or NAS 410 Level III certifications for UT may also be considered
Technical Responsibilities: Ability to generate and approve scan plans Write and approve UT testing procedures and workmanship standards Develop and administer training materials and examinations for Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division (NSWCCD) employees, in compliance with NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 requirements for Level II UT certification
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform medium-duty lifting (carrying up to 25 lbs)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
Familiarity with inspecting a variety of materials, including: Metals Polymers Composites Applications such as flat plate, weldments, structural shapes, and piping
Preferred experience in managing and operating a
Level III certified NDE program
in accordance with Navy or commercial specifications RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee and perform advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on materials and structures to detect defects without causing damage Ensure compliance with quality and safety standards through effective testing practices Guide and mentor other NDT personnel in proper techniques and procedures Develop and refine NDT testing procedures and methodologies Interpret complex test results and provide detailed analysis and recommendations Apply expertise across a variety of NDT methods Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills in support of inspections and evaluations Support occasional travel requirements Provide ad-hoc support as needed What We Offer
