The Director of Supplier Quality plays a critical role in ensuring that all suppliers meet the highest standards for quality, compliance, and reliability in aviation manufacturing and operations. This position is responsible for developing and executing strategies to assess, manage, and improve supplier performance while maintaining alignment with industry regulations and company objectives. Key Responsibilities
Deploy PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) as a best practice to reduce quality and delivery risk of suppliers to support the launch of the Midnight and future aircraft. Establish supplier performance metrics and conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to quality requirements. Collaborate with supply chain, engineering, and procurement teams to assess new and existing suppliers for capability, risk, and compliance. Lead corrective action initiatives to address supplier quality issues and drive continuous improvement. Manage supplier qualification and approval processes, ensuring thorough assessments of manufacturing capabilities and quality systems. Develop training programs and quality improvement initiatives for suppliers to maintain high standards and efficiency. Work closely with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all relevant aerospace safety and quality requirements. Drive root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to mitigate recurring quality concerns. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, fostering collaboration to achieve mutual success in production and quality goals. Oversee supplier audits and ensure all findings are properly documented and addressed. Provide regular reporting and analysis on supplier performance trends to senior leadership. Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Supply Chain, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 15+ years of experience in supplier quality management within the automotive, aviation and/or aerospace industry. Demonstrated excellence in the application and execution of PPAP in the automotive and/or aerospace industry. Strong understanding of regulatory and quality standards such as FAA, EASA, AS9100, ISO 9001, etc. Proven track record of driving supplier quality improvements and leading audit programs. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams. Ability to travel as required for supplier assessments and audits. Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification preferred. Experience working with global supply chains and multi-site supplier quality programs. Expertise in risk management, process improvement, and root cause analysis methodologies.
