Adjunct Faculty Position
Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by Ivy Tech Community College. The adjunct faculty member supports the College's mission and strategic plan initiatives. Major responsibilities include performing all instructional duties to facilitate student learning in assigned classes; providing syllabus to students; following syllabus content and requirements; maintaining student attendance and grading records; submitting requested information within established timelines; dealing with student concerns; consulting with program chair to resolve issues; meeting all scheduled classes of the contracted course; using classroom technology as appropriate; notifying program chair in event of any emergency; and conducting all work activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of population, views and learning styles. The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned. Education: The required level of education depends on the extent of entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial experience. A minimum of an associate degree is required, along with at least seven years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications include college level teaching experience. Other requirements should always be: Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome. Position requires sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of the College students and employees. Program requirements include a qualified faculty member in the Entrepreneurship Program meeting the program standard with documented entrepreneurial experience, intrapreneurial experience, completion of the initial training, and meeting one of the following: Possesses an earned master's degree or higher in any field from a regionally accredited institution with documentation in one of the following: At least 3 years of documented entrepreneurial experience, or a combination of 3 years of documented entrepreneurial experience and intrapreneurial experience; or possesses an earned bachelor's degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution with documentation in one of the following: At least 5 years of documented entrepreneurial experience, or a combination of 5 years of documented entrepreneurial experience and intrapreneurial experience; or possesses an earned associate degree in any field from a regionally accredited institution with documentation in one of the following: At least 7 years of documented entrepreneurial experience, or a combination of 7 years of documented entrepreneurial experience and intrapreneurial experience. Industry-recognized certifications or badges can supplement intrapreneurial experience. ENTR 215 - New Venture Development Prerequisites: ENTR 200 - Entrepreneurial Enterprise Program: Entrepreneurship Credit Hours Min: 3 Lecture Hours Min: 2 This course offers a comprehensive understanding of business ownership and management. Students will learn about legal concepts, government regulations, and business structures. They'll explore buy/lease negotiations, insurance, logistics, and technology use. Additionally, the course covers areas like exit planning, tax compliance, risk management, and funding options. By the end, students will be well-prepared to tackle the challenges of small business management and entrepreneurship. Major course learning objectives include assessing legal concepts for business ownership, determining the form of business structure needed, managing government laws and regulations as they relate to small businesses, learning different types of leases and ways to purchase or lease property, discussing variables for buy/lease negotiations, layout, and location, comparing insurance needs and options, applying the need for controls as they relate to the logistics of purchasing, inventory, and loss control, and determining the use of technology in students' small businesses. Topical areas of study include SWOT analysis, identify business growth opportunities, funding options, sales and use tax, logistics, supply chain, and distribution, shipping cost and pricing, real estate, including leasing, property taxes, and zoning laws, risk management and insurance needs, and exit planning and succession planning.
