Location: Wyoming State Penitentiary - 2900 South Higley Rawlins, WY 82301 Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, flexible hours between 7:00 AM and 4:00 PM (40-hour week). Peer Recovery Specialists are responsible for: Providing support to clients by assisting with treatment goals for recovery through group sessions and helping clients to understand actions needed to successfully achieve treatment goals. Serving as a member of the treatment team by monitoring client behavior and reporting client observations, incidents, or unusual occurrences; contributing to decisions regarding treatment plans, conflict intervention, or privileges. Assisting the team in maintaining a consistent setting for treatment, and planning and coordinating client interaction events. Aiding clients in making the transition from incarceration to community by serving as an example of sober living and identifying resources, services, and support groups to be used in facilitating the transition. Guiding and assisting clients in complying with program rules and regulations. Notifying appropriate personnel of residents failing to comply with center policies and rules. Documenting and maintaining records which may include recording group hours, therapeutic treatments, activity or group participation, and so forth; in accordance with the contractual requirements. Ensuring records are complete, accurate, and up to date. Participating in Performance Improvement activities. Performing other duties as they might be assigned. Job Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent TC experience desired Ability to obtain certification as a Peer Specialist in the State of Wyoming within six months of employment Current Wyoming Peer Specialist Certification Current or willing to train to upgrade to Forensic Peer Specialist Certification Former participant in a substance abuse treatment program offered by the Department of Corrections and demonstrated long-term stable recovery Some therapeutic community experience preferred Physical Requirements: Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time, to monitor and interact with clients Ability to speak with others in order to exchange information and provide support Ability to record, proofread, and check documents and files for accuracy Ability to respond to telephones, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises Benefits at Gateway Foundation: Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and dependents Employee wellness program promoting health and fitness and offering cash-saving premiums Employee assistance programs focused on mental health Financial Wellbeing: 403(b) Retirement Plan with 3% employer match Short-term and Long-term Disability and Life and AD&D Insurance paid for by Gateway Flexible Spending Accounts for medical and dependent care Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Flexibility and Time Off: 18 paid time off days per year
