Job Summary

Functions under the direction of the Telecommunications Manager. The Telecom/UC Architect assists the IT Manager, Chief Architect, or Senior Enterprise Architect in the development of the overall Telecom and UC strategy, architecture, standards and infrastructure. The Telecom/UC Architect must have a broad view of the entire organization. The Telecom/UC Architect will work in a team environment developing enterprise IT technology strategy and providing a technology vision aligned to changing business priorities and enterprise architectural standards. The Telecom/UC Architect improves voice and UC hardware and software processes and supports critical business strategies. Works with technical staff to ensure that client specifications are met. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Works at the highest systems level to provide expert advice and counsel to user management and IT project teams for systems of the most complex nature. Evaluates new technologies and develops departmental standard practices. Principal work of unit is adaptation and maintenance of Telecommunications systems. Preferred candidates should have an expert level of experience with building, integrating, patching, securing and supporting systems in a large enterprise environment. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Assists the Chief Enterprise Architect in preparing detailed roadmaps to successfully implement the technology strategy. Works closely with vendors to obtain detailed proposals and quotations. Assists with negotiating competitive and favorable pricing. Makes formal presentations to Senior Management on the targeted strategy. Works with IT Managers to prepare detailed implementation plans. Provides routine reports to the Chief Enterprise Architect on project status. Assists the Chief Enterprise Architect in developing the Technology strategy and vision to support key business processes and needs by determining the optimal IT architecture, level of investment in tools and technologies. Develops architectural standards. Helps define enterprise-wide documentation standard for architectures deployed. Maintains the documentation for the technology standards that define what technologies and products are approved to be used within the organization, complimented by prescriptive enterprise-wide guidelines on how to best apply these technology standards in supporting business applications. Assists in defining and maintains policies and principles relevant to the approved architecture. Integrate Architecture between legacy systems and new technologies. Provide consulting, guidance, and direction to business units to ensure best practices and compliance activities are built-in to processes and procedures. Develop and maintain the architecture, working with other team members to ensure consistency and completeness. Reviews and evaluates new technology. Provide technical and architectural leadership to ensure compliance with HIPAA, PCI, and other required compliance frameworks. Enhance professional growth and development through education programs, workshops or other educational opportunities that may be presented. Keep abreast of current events. Performs additional duties as assigned. Required Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree Required or equivalent Required Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Additional License(s) and Certification(s):

Avaya certifications such as ACSS/ACIS, Cisco Certified -CCNA/CCNP Administrator, Upon Hire Preferred or similar professional certification and specialized training related to Telecom/network administration Upon Hire Preferred Required Minimum Experience:

Minimum 8 years of equivalent work experience in lieu of education will be considered Required and Minimum 8 years experience working with voice communications equipment Preferred Required Minimum Skills:

Knowledge and experience with voice and data cabling systems. Sound understanding of network operations and infrastructure. Ability to multitask, lead complex projects, follow written and oral instructions. Ability to configure and develop project requests. Possess analytical skills and be familiar with methods of problem solving. Public relations skills necessary to communicate effectively in a courteous, professional and tactful manner. Must be able to accept responsibility, manage authority and function independently of constant supervision. Ability to use EXCEL, Word and have basic computer operational knowledge.
