Manager, Advanced Practice Provider
The Manager, Advanced Practice Provider (APP), provides both strategic and operational leadership for APPs within the Department of Gynecology Oncology & Reproductive Medicine. This highly visible role oversees APP operations across outpatient clinics, surgical services, and inpatient care at TMC and HALs. The manager is directly responsible for the leadership of APP Supervisors and the broader APP workforce, ensuring clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with institutional priorities. The ideal candidate for the Manager, Advanced Practice Provider position will have a minimum of three years of supervisory experience, including direct oversight of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and APP Supervisors. This individual will lead a team of three APP Supervisors across multiple practice locations. Preferred experience includes gynecology and/or oncology, with a strong focus on outpatient care. Success in this role requires exceptional leadership, project management, and communication skills, along with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with physicians. Experience in an academic medical center setting is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities APP Operations Management Lead day-to-day operations of the APP team, ensuring optimal staffing, high-quality patient care, and compliance with institutional standards. Develop and implement departmental goals, clinical protocols, and revenue-generating initiatives. Oversee outpatient and inpatient APP functions across the TMC and HALs. Drive initiatives to enhance patient access and ensure timely follow-upclosing the loop in care delivery and communication. Personnel Management Supervise APP Supervisors and oversee APPs across multiple service lines and locations. Manage performance processes including evaluations, professional development plans (PDMs), and individual goal alignment. Collaborate with HR and leadership on recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of APPs. Ensure compliance with credentialing, licensure, training, and privileging requirements. Coach and mentor staff for performance improvement and professional growth. Champion a culture of collaboration, accountability, and patient-centered care. Patient Care Oversight Partner with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to align APP roles with clinical workflows and patient care goals. Maintain a visible presence across locations to support staff, assess service delivery, and resolve issues. Promote excellence in care delivery, particularly in outpatient gynecologic oncology and reproductive medicine services. Support APPs managing complex oncology patients, with a focus on documentation, follow-up coordination, and proactive care planning. Leadership and Strategic Initiatives Lead or participate in departmental and institutional projects, including quality improvement, clinical expansion, and process optimization. Represent the APP team in cross-functional planning initiatives and academic collaborations. Demonstrate a commitment to leadership development through formal training and mentorship. Promote consistency across locations and service lines to ensure seamless care and staff experience. Other Duties as Assigned Education Required: Degree requirements as defined by the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) or Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners (TSBNE), as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Experience Required: Three years of clinical experience as an advanced practice provider and one year of supervisory experience. Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience. Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources. Certification/Licensure Required: All of the following: Current license and/or certification as defined by the TSBPAE or TSBNE as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN or ACNP or ACNPC or ACAGNP or AGACNP or ACNPC-AG or AGACNP or AGNP or ACPNP or ANP or AGNP or AGPCNP or FNP or GNP or PNP or PMHNP or WHNP or APNP) or Physician Assistant. Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
