Responsibilities: Performs Comprehensive Patient Assessments: Conducts head-to-toe assessments on mother-baby, antepartum, postpartum, gynecologic, and obstetrical patients; includes neonatal assessments and newborn care procedures such as hearing exams and circumcision assistance. Monitors and Manages Newborns and Laboring Patients: Assesses neonates at delivery, performs neonatal resuscitation, initiates transitional care, and manages laboring patients and those in the post-anesthesia recovery area. Demonstrates Proficiency in Fetal Monitoring and NPR: Maintains NPR and fetal monitoring certification every two years and collaborates with L&D staff on interpreting FHR patterns. Supports Breastfeeding and Infant Safety: Assists with breastfeeding and adheres strictly to infant abduction policies. Functions Across Maternal Child Division: Floats to various maternal-child units as per competency matrix and provides care in accordance with bereavement policies. Performs Clinical Interventions Safely: Administers IV therapy, oxygen, medications (within 30 minutes of scheduled time), and catheterizations per policy; manages central lines and glucose monitoring. Maintains Infection Control Standards: Uses aseptic technique for dressing changes and specimen collections; adheres to hand hygiene and standard precautions. Implements Patient Care Plans: Initiates and updates interdisciplinary care plans, sets priorities, and modifies interventions based on patient progress. Documents Thoroughly: Records assessments, outcomes, patient progress, and shift-to-shift evaluations accurately and timely. Educates and Communicates Effectively: Assesses educational needs, provides individualized instruction, and acts as a liaison between staff, patients, and families. Participates in Team-Based Leadership: Serves as a resource for staff, assists with orientation and staff development, and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration. Ensures Operational Efficiency: Supports scheduling, tracks supplies, and helps resolve internal/external issues under the direction of the Nursing Director. Maintains Regulatory and Professional Standards: Attends required meetings and training, completes annual competencies, and promotes a customer-focused, safety-driven work culture. Demonstrates Leadership and Accountability: Exercises sound judgment, solves problems systematically, and maintains high employee satisfaction through strong leadership and support. Requirements: L&D Registered Nurse: FL RN license, BLS, NRP, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate certification w/n 6 months of hire. Fetal monitoring competency test required every two years. AWHONN EFM course every 2 years. AWHONN OB OPS class every 2 years Mother Baby: FL RN license, BLS, NRP. Nursery: FL RN license, BLS, NRP. (NRP must be obtained within 6 months of hire or transfer) Minimum of 3 years of experience in the area of specialty preferred.
