Job Description Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist Profession: Lab Scientist Specialty: Lab - Huntington Duration: Full-time Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM Experience: Must be a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist or have 1 year of clinical laboratory experience, performing non-waived patient testing. License: Certification by an approved organization. Certifications: Must pass a nationally recognized certification exam within specified time frame if not already certified. Must-Have: Must have visual acuity and color discrimination. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must have good verbal and written communication skills. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required.
Description: The Medical Lab Scientist is responsible for accurately performing medical laboratory tests following established laboratory policies and procedures. This role requires adherence to performance and quality standards. The Lab Scientist is responsible for clinical instrument maintenance and for new test and instrumentation development. Responsibilities include training other laboratory co-workers. The Lab Scientist actively participates in the overall functioning of the clinical laboratory, assuming leadership or member roles on committees and projects. The Lab Scientist is responsible for maintaining the laboratory in continuous readiness for inspection. An extensive knowledge of techniques, instruments, and basic medical sciences is required for this position. The Lab Scientist is responsible for the consequences of their own decisions and provides guidance to other laboratory co-workers.
