General Laborer
A General Laborer is responsible for performing a wide range of physical labor tasks and aid in daily operations at a construction site. Must be skilled at following instructions from the project supervision to help prepare and maintain the job site. Compensation: $21.63/hour Schedule: Full-time Location: North Austin, TX Reports To: Site Superintendent / Project Foreman Education and Training Requirements: High School Diploma or its equivalent Some positions may require a valid drivers license with a clear Motor Vehicle Report Essential Functions: Performs various physical duties as assigned Load, unload and prepare any tools or materials needed to complete the build Remove any trash, debris, building materials or hazardous materials from the site before, during and after construction Cooperatively work with team members through all stages of the project to make sure work is done efficiently Assist skilled laborers and heavy equipment operators as needed Follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment Perform some specialized tasks which may require on-the-job training Ability to read and understand labels, safety warnings, and guidelines Attentiveness to detail and ability to maintain awareness to ensure safety Ability to receive and follow verbal and written instructions and effectively communicate with coworkers Other Functions: May perform physical activities and assist with lifting, position and securing material during installation Able to travel to various job locations Assist team members to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift Provide suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and/or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Must be able to move in and around confined and cluttered spaces and uneven areas Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas Must be able to stand and walk up to 8 hours per day in all weather conditions and noise levels May be required to work 12-hour shifts performing construction-based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions. May on occasion, work up to 16 hours in a single shift Ability to perform repetitive motion from operating hand and foot controls of the equipment. Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required of DOT medical certification Able to mount and dismount equipment and maintain balance Must be able to hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, as well as hear creaks, pings, and any other anomalies in equipment prior to, during or, after any lift or positioning of material/load.
