The Principal Assembly Packaging Engineer has broad ownership of optical package design and assembly activities for product portfolio, including supervisory responsibility to direct internal resources and outside consultants. Design activities include the development of component level packaging, system level packaging, associated assembly process flows, and automated test systems. As a senior leader of the technical team, you will also be involved in the test and qualification of ANELLO's products and provide key inputs to overall design and qualification processes. Responsibilities
Design component level packages, both electrical and optical, for semi-automated assembly Design robust and detailed CAD models of packaging Perform thermal analysis of package design Identify packaging and assembly technologies and support new vendor qualification Design system level packages which pass rigorous and harsh environmental certifications for waterproofing, corrosion and chemical resistance, solar radiation, EMI/EMC, etc. Develop packages that are compliant with industry standard test criteria including automotive and military qualification standards Develop customized machinery to support automated test and assembly of components and systems Establish optical subsystem build and qualification process and release reliable process to manufacturing Recruit, supervise, and train additional mechanical design resources as required and/or identify and contract 3 rd
party service providers Requirements
Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or similar. 10+ years of experience in product mechanical design and 5+ years of assembly process development spanning from component to product level assembly (optical products) Hands on skill set on assembling, testing and troubleshooting capability with optical system. Expert at SolidWorks and other CAD tools Familiarity with computational FEM techniques for thermal and mechanical analysis and how they can be leveraged in package design and risk assessments Working knowledge of statistical process control and statistical tolerance analyses Expert at Documentation Standards including dimensioning standards, datum and tolerance analysis Knowledge of package-level integrity / reliability stress test requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced and innovation-driven environment Strong technical leadership and interpersonal skills Additional Desired Skills
